A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the Naumi Hotel has recently undergone a multi-million dollar refurbishment. Featuring 73 rooms, event spaces and a gym, the boutique hotel is now dressed to impress. Just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Raffles Hotel, Naumi Hotel sits on a quiet stretch of road where one can enjoy a temporary disconnect from the world without sacrificing on the luxurious aspects of rejuvenation.

Staff uniform at this boutique property is designed by a local designer and brand - DEPRESSION. The uniforms have been designed to emanate contemporary runway clothing. With an avant-garde twist, the women’s uniform features a soft yet structural cape with gold collar clips, while the men wear a deconstructed blazer with a modern split tailcoat. You will not be able to find the usual suit and tie at this hotel as the playful vibe permeates through the different design aspects of your stay.

I stayed in the entry-level Habitat Room located on the top floor with great views of the Singapore Marina from a distance. Although my view was slightly obstructed by Raffles Hotel, you get to enjoy views of the Fairmont and Swissotel Stamford. The room is spacious (for a boutique hotel standard) and contains every thing that a traveller may require and desire. In fact, the room also comes with its very own Apple TV so you can stream music and videos easily from your Mac-family gadgets. If like me, you own an iPhone, a Macbook and an iPad, you are in luck!

The room was intelligently designed and is filled with little surprises all around. My personal favourite is the magic glass in the shower which fogs up at the touch of a button. Automatic rolling blinds are made available in the room to make going to bed (and waking up) stress-free. The room comes with a selection of mini-bar items and a small bottle of gin, whiskey and vodka. Drinks in the mini-bar which includes different canned beverages (to concoct your lethal beverage( are replaced on a daily basis while the liquor and snacks are replaced on a per-stay basis. I believe the only other hotel that I have been to in Singapore that offers complimentary mini-bar (without loyalty status) is Quincy hotel.

One unique amenity you will find in your room is a yoga mat secretly tucked away in the drawer under the bed. In this drawer you will also find an ironing board (and an iron of course!) for your convenience. The room also comes equipped with built-in charging cables for your power hungry mobile phones - Apple (Lightning), Blackberry and Android.

The electric glass water kettle was a personal favourite. It was therapeutic to watch the bubbles rise aggressively as the water gained temperature.

Bath amenities were provided by the luxurious and organic New York brand, Malin + Goetz and the Rum Body Wash (without sounding like an alcoholic) has a scent that is truly to die for! I really enjoyed the bath amenities and I think it really suited the overall theme of the hotel. While being unconservative and slightly playful in the scents, it did not compromise on luxury.

The rooftop infinity pool has been rated by many travellers as one of the best around in Singapore. In fact, the very first infinity pool in Singapore can be found in this charming hotel. However, the massive construction going on can be quite an eyesore for now.

It is worth noting that if you join the SLH Club before booking for a room via SLH, you may score yourself a complimentary room upgrade (subjected to availability). Upon completing your first stay, you will always receive complimentary breakfast for two for all subsequent stays in that calendar year.

Breakfast was served at Table by Rang Mahal the following morning. The hotel’s new all-day dining restaurant extends a holistic dining experience that Rang Mahal Restaurants is best known for. Serving up a diverse range of contemporary cuisine with Indian influence, the menu begins the day with a healthy breakfast specially developed by Naumi Hotel for a fresh start as well as a unique power breakfast for business travellers.

Breakfast highlights also include fresh fruit juice and vegetable juice shots with beauty benefits such as collagen. On top of breakfast, Table also features all day-dining and bento lunches designed for efficient, speedy lunches for business travellers.

A wide selection of TWG Teas were also provided in the restaurant so be sure to browse and find something you like! The Naumi Hotel is a great boutique property that sits in a really convenient location for travellers with a layover in Singapore. While I do not envision a long-term stay at Naumi Hotel, it is definitely attractive as a layover or staycation destination. For those who are concerned about privacy issues, there is a dedicated floor that is only accessible for female travellers. BAR for the Habitat Room is S$360++ at the time of writing (from S$270++ for 30 days advance purchase rate).
