Lounge Review - The Qantas Singapore Lounge

The Qantas Singapore Lounge located in Terminal One of Singapore Changi Airport, offers a new standard of luxury for travellers.  The lounge reflects the heart of Singapore, a vibrant and exciting space that celebrates the local scene. You can enjoy the best of the service currently offered by Sofitel in flagship First lounges in Sydney and Melbourne, and an enhanced dining experience featuring Neil Perry's Spice Temple inspired dishes and signature cocktails.

If you are travelling on Business or First Class on Qantas (or a OneWorld flight in similar class), be sure to check out The Qantas Singapore Lounge. The Qantas Singapore Lounge is open from 230pm to 11pm daily so make sure your flight is around those timings otherwise you might miss the opportunity to check it out.

It's beautifully designed and it really reminds me of The Qantas Hong Kong Lounge that I reviewed earlier this year. Lounge features include the following:

  • Lounge Dining
  • Bar Service
  • Barista
  • Tea, Coffee and Beverages
  • Showers and Toilets
  • Wireless Internet
  • Internet Access
  • Magazines and Newspapers

There was quite a wide selection of hot food items in the lounge and I particularly like the Thai curry chicken that was offered while I was there. You will also find proper cutleries here so no plastic filmsy ones that you get at a regular lounge (especially those you go in free with a credit card like the ANZ Travel Visa Signature Credit Card).

There's a wide selection of food options here in the Qantas Singapore Lounge - ranging from pastas, Thai curry, salads, desserts and fruits. I did have a particularly good Crème Brûlée here so it is definitely something to look out for!

There is a small selection of wine that you can pour but my advise to you is to head down the proper bar area and order yourself a real drink. Why settle for second best when you have the best around (and free for you too!).

The adequately-stocked bar was pretty impressive and the bartenders had some slick moves to share and amuse weary travellers. Go ahead and do everyone a favour - order that Singapore Sling you know you are craving and let everyone else watch the show. Be a team player!

Otherwise, be boring like me and order and Gin and Tonic instead. They made a pretty decent (Bombay Sapphire) Gin and Tonic for me while I was there and I kinda like the round glass presentation. I was actually there before a night flight to Melbourne and the lounge was really empty. However, judging from the size of it, I expect this place to be swarming with people during more popular flight times.

There's ample space for you to get work done and power sockets are readily available so your power-hungry devices never run out of juice.

If you are just looking to chill out (like me), there are different seat configurations and plenty of space for you to lounge around or people-watch.

If you did not bring your reading materials for some reason, there are newspapers and magazines that you can take to browse. I would really recommend the Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia magazine on Zinio since you can easily sync your library to a few devices. Zinio has truly changed the way I read magazines as I can now carry a few subscriptions easily on my iPad.

If you have a major layover in Singapore, consider getting the Pool Suite or a Pool-Access room at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. Otherwise, if you are fortunate enough to travel on a OneWorld (or a Qantas/Emirates) flight, be sure to give this lounge a go if you are in need of a good drink.
