Hilton Diamond Matched to JUST Hyatt Platinum
The craziness that followed the Starwood acquisition news saw Hyatt scrambling and offering Hyatt Diamond. While the hotel giant has previously accepted top tier statuses with competing programs like IHG Spire Elite, Hilton Diamond Elite, Marriott Platinum Elite and SPG Platinum Elite, the conditions of getting a status match have become more stringent over time.

I have submitted a status match to Hyatt Diamond using my Hilton Diamond Elite account and was given the following response:
Dear Mr. Chua,
I hope that this message finds you well.
It is my pleasure to inform you that we have upgraded your account to Platinum until February 2017. You will begin to enjoy the many benefits of the Platinum tier status such as guaranteed availability 72 hours prior to arrival, best room within the category booked, as well as 15% bonus points per stay among many other wonderful benefits.
You may maintain this tier going forward by completing 5 eligible stays or 15 qualifying nights between January 1 – December 31, 2016.
As part of a limited time special offer, we are currently matching elite status with peer programs to Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum status. At this time, the only way to achieve the Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond tier is to complete the normal earning criteria or to submit Starwood Preferred Guest information showing Platinum status, as well as 20 nights with SPG in the last 12 months.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Welcome to Hyatt Platinum!
While I do not blame Hyatt at all for matching me to Platinum, I am just pretty disappointed since it was offered but not carried through. On the other hand, kudos to Hilton for doing this right!
