Ask any Singaporean you know and chances are they have already been to Bangkok at some point in their lives. To get from the Suvarnabhumi International Airport, I have arranged for an airport pickup using the global professional driver service, Blacklane. For those of you who have not utilised the service before, Blacklane has a vast network of licensed and insured drivers that will help you get from point A to point B. In fact, the whole online booking process is so simple and professional that you don't actually realise how much you could be saving. For my trip from the airport to the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, I paid close to US$40 which is probably quite a lot since a taxi will cost somewhere between US$10-12. With that being said however, you are getting impeccable service with Blacklane that may be worth every penny. In fact, since I arrived in Bangkok shortly after the tragic bombing incident, airport security was a lot tighter and the whole arrival process took over an hour. While I ended up tipping the Blacklane driver on my own accord, this is completely voluntary since tips are already included in the quoted fare. If you feel like splurging, the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok also offers luxurious transportation options from the airport:

Despite arriving over an hour later than my communicated time of arrival to the hotel, the friendly staff at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok couldn't make me feel more welcomed - the check-in process was swift and everyone was super friendly. Upon arriving, I found a bunch of local snacks as a welcome amenity. What really impressed me however was the inclusion of some floral garlands and candles for me to pay my respects at the Erawan Shrine. I really thought that was a nice gesture from the hotel side that was done way above what was usually required so kudos to the whole team on that!

The Club View room at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok was not particularly big (approximately 40 sqm) but I loved the design of the room layout (although some people may argue otherwise) - particularly the bathroom. The bedroom comes with a plush king-sized bed and a daybed-style settee for working or lounging.

There is also a decently-sized working table with a desk lamp in case you would like to catch up on work. If you are lucky, you may get a view of the legendary Bangkok Sports Club or sweeping views of the city from the tall glass windows which gives the room plenty of natural light in the day.

Apart from complimentary Internet and WiFi access, you will also receive drinking water (replenished daily or simply ask for more), basic coffee and tea-making facilities (no Nespresso though!) and a mini bar. There is also a large LCD screen in your room for your entertainment but I didn't get to use it much as I was mainly outside exploring the city or chilling in the Grand Club (more on this later!).

The friendly staff at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok will also deliver little snacks up to your room on a daily basis. I have gotten some pretty amazing Thai Luk Chup on my first day and these beautiful donuts on my second.

The first thing you will notice from the photo is that the bathroom overlooks the bedroom - perfect when you are traveling alone and not so perfect if you are traveling with friends. What this means however is that you will be able to enjoy a good soak in the tub while keeping yourself entertained with whatever that is on TV. If you are traveling with friends however, fret not because that mirror that you see can be pushed inwards to close that opening in the wall.

The bathroom of the Club View room in the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is my favourite part of the room. While it was not excessively luxurious, I love how intelligent everything is. Firstly, the door to the bathroom is flushed to the side of the wall which is an incredible use of space. Secondly, the design of the bathroom (especially the tiles on the wall) is really a nice blend of contemporary design and local inspiration.

Bathroom amenities here are provided by June Jacobs Spa Collection. I am personally obsessed with the June Jacobs range of products as they do wonders for me personally. Having stayed at the Grand Hyatt Singapore, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and Grand Hyatt Taipei, I have gotten used to getting the Green Tea and Cucumber scent (which I love) so when I found the Citrus collection instead at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, I was slightly puzzled. While I do love the Citrus scent, I still prefer the good old Green Tea and Cucumber - maybe because I'm just so used to it. The bathroom comes with a rainshower and excellent water pressure which is a dream (especially if you have spent the entire afternoon out in the sun).

As a club guest, I had the option of having breakfast at the exclusive Grand Club or enjoy a full buffet spread at The Dining Room with a gorgeous garden ambience. It is not difficult to guess which one I went for - the latter option of course! If you have been to the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, you will know how beautiful the lobby is. It is practically an oasis in the city with well-lit halls, lush greenery and tranquil waters. The Dining Room which is located on the same level as the lobby offers a beautiful dining space that is sure to start your morning on a right note.

One of the benefits of living in South-east Asia is the abundance of tropical fruits. You can be sure to have your fill of quality fresh fruits at The Dining Room - the papaya with Thai green lime was so good!

The breakfast spread at The Dining Room is seriously quite extensive so be sure to come down hungry with an appetite to work through. With that being said, most of us Singaporeans love the street food in Bangkok so make sure you do not overeat during breakfast.

To immerse yourself fully in the beauty of the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok's lobby, check out The Garden Lounge which serves up light meals and beverages throughout the day (6AM to 1230AM). While the Erawan Tea Room is incredibly famous for afternoon tea, it is worth giving The Garden Lounge a shot if you are looking for something a little less crowded.

If you have access to the Grand Club (whether you got a club room, suite or simply being a Hyatt Diamond guest), be sure to check it out during the evening for a chance at witnessing a beautiful sunset. I was pleasantly surprised by the view when I managed to check it out one evening.

The Grand Club gets pretty crowded during the evening cocktails so swing on by early to get a nice and comfortable seat. Light canapés are also served during the period but I personally do not think it is sufficient for a light dinner.

You will find some decent desserts to go with your drinks though - be sure to give anything coconut a try!

The Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok also features a beautiful outdoor poor that is a delight to swim in. I love the azure blue waters and the overall theme of the whole place. With Siam Paragon just slightly over 1KM from the hotel, it is definitely possible to walk to Bangkok's most famous shopping district. The hotel also houses THE BEST Sunday Brunch I have ever been to (more on this in a separate post!). After spending three nights at this beautiful property, I guess it is safe to say that the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is hands down my personal favourite hotel in Bangkok and I can't wait to revisit it again next year!
