Using KrisFlyer Spree may not always be the best idea and it is always advisable for consumers to calculate the opportunity cost of doing so. For example, if you tend to book your hotel stays on Expedia, it is crucial to take note that ShopBack runs a supersized cashback for up to 11.5% cashback and therefore, picking KrisFlyer Spree may not be the best option in this situation.

For the sake of comparison, booking an eligible hotel stay on Expedia via KrisFlyer Spree will give you 34 KrisFlyer Miles per 10 USD. Based on current conversion rates, this is roughly equivalent to an additional 2.5 KrisFlyer Miles per SGD. If you were to spend S$300 on a hotel stay, you will get approximately 750 KrisFlyer Miles. If you booked this stay via ShopBack during a promotional period, this is equivalent to S$34.50 cashback - I don't know about you but as much as I love my miles, I would pick S$34.50 over 750 KrisFlyer Miles any day.
