Experience Nyepi in Bali at the Capella Ubud with the Silent Reflection Reboot Experience
Nyepi, otherwise known as the 'Day of Silence' falls on 25 March 2020 this year, according to the Saka Balinese calendar. This is a day of silence and inactivity across the island (the airport is also closed on this day) and this holiday is a time of purification and self-reflection, and it is commonly believed that, by ceasing all activity and light, evil spirits that descend upon Bali will believe it to be uninhabited and leave the island in peace for another year. Capella Ubud has launched a unique Silent Reflection Reboot experience, which offers guests the opportunity to experience this unique day of self-reflection, and includes several spirituality-enhancing activities, such as nocturnal meditation and a water purification ritual at Wos River Temple.
Capella Ubud’s luxury tented camp is set in the heart of a verdant rainforest, bringing the rich heritage of Bali to life in a truly remarkable natural setting. Nyepi is observed by the devout through abstinence from food and drink, human speech, movement outside the family compound, and even the lighting of fires or lamps.
Whilst the celebration is primarily Hindu, non-Hindu residents and guests to the island are not exempt from the restrictions, making the Silent Reflection Reboot at Capella Ubud the perfect opportunity to experience and observe this sacred day from the luxurious confines of the property.
To mark the meditative period, Capella Ubud will offer the opportunity to access to witness sacred Balinese Hindu ceremonies and the opportunity to look back and ponder in silence. The Silent Reflection Reboot experience is priced at USD 4,100 nett based on a 3-night stay in a one-bedroom tent and includes:
Tawur Kasanga – a cultural journey of Ogoh-Ogoh (Balinese papier mache monster dolls) purification and parades in the town square
60-minute Nocturnal Meditation
Water purification ritual at Wos River Temple
Canang & Ketupat making (Balinese offering) class
Onsite campfire night with mythical storytelling, stargazing and hot chocolate around The Campfire
A 90-minute Auriga Wellness’ signature treatment
