10% Off Miles on Pay with Points Redemption with Citi PremierMiles Card - But Why Bother?

If you plan on accruing miles, using them to offset your purchases is typically a terrible idea. Even with the 10% discount on miles required to 'Pay with Points', you are only getting a miserable S$6.76 per 1,000 Citi Miles (S$6.06 on a regular day without the 10% discount) with your Citi PremierMiles Card. In comparison, 1,000 miles are typically valued between S$17 to S$20 depending on your calculation and access to cards.

The Citi PremierMiles Card is a great general spend credit card to hold and it does come with a number of perks which are nice for infrequent travellers (e.g. complimentary airport lounge access). However, there are better credit cards in the market that will give you more miles for your spend (up to 4 miles per dollar). If you do not have a Citi credit card right now, you may just be eligible for a S$200 cash bonus if you sign-up for an eligible credit card before the end of 30 April 2020 - I highly recommend getting the Citi Rewards Card as that gives you 4 miles per dollar on up to S$1,000 each month on eligible transactions.
