American Express has brought back amazing statement credit offers where you can get up to S$120 statement credit (equivalent to 30% cashback) with each completed offer. Unlike most promotions that banks usually run, American Express Offers are typically unique to American Express-issued cards where cardholders can unlock a statement credit after meeting a minimum spend - this is also one of the main reasons why I choose to renew The Platinum Card (even though the annual fee is S$1,712) each year! From 25 August 2020 to 08 November 2020, save the following offers to your eligible American Express Card(s) to enjoy up to S$120 statement credit across participating hotel partners in Singapore - there's one for Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, as well as Millennium Hotels and Resorts!

This is not the first time that American Express is running a promotion like this - back in 2018, there was a Spend S$500, Get S$150 back offer for participating Marriott properties (amongst other similar offers) but in recognition of global travel restrictions right now, all of the four American Express offers in this article will apply to participating properties in Singapore only. However, do note that the offers are slightly different, and with the exception of the Hilton offer, all other offers can only be redeemed once per Saved Card.

Hilton - Spend S$400, Get S$120 Statement Credit

Minimum Spend: S$400 (Multiple Transactions Allowed) by 08 November 2020
Statement Credit: S$120 (30% Cashback)  per Participating Property
Maximum Redemption: Once per Participating Property (up to 3X across three properties in Singapore) 
Eligible Spend Categories: Staycations (In-person spend at Front Desk only) and Dining (across participating Hilton restaurants and bars)

This is the only American Express Offer in the article where an eligible cardholder can redeem the offer up to three times (once per property). Do note that the offer excludes transactions where you do not spend directly, in-person at the property (i.e. online purchases will be excluded). It is not uncommon for properties to take a prepayment for heavily-discounted room packages (and if these transactions are processed online, they will be excluded) so do keep that in mind. As noted last month, Conrad Centennial Singapore has returned as a Love Dining partner so eligible spend made across participating restaurants like Oscar's and Golden Peony (where you can enjoy up to 50% discount on food) will also count towards the minimum spend requirement of S$400.

Marriott - Spend S$400, Get S$100 Statement Credit

Eligible Spend Categories: Staycations (In-person and Online), Spa and Dining across participating outlets

Eligible members who have saved the offer to their card(s) will get to enjoy a one-time statement credit of S$100 after spending S$400 across participating outlets across participating Marriott hotels in Singapore - The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, The St. Regis Singapore, W Singapore - Sentosa Cove, and Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. While the terms and conditions for this offer do not explicitly state whether cumulative spend across multiple transactions will count towards satisfying the minimum spend requirement, I have gotten a verbal confirmation from the American Express team that this is indeed possible (I will share my experience once this is done). Much like the previous offer, some of the participating restaurants are Love Dining partners and therefore, you will be able to double-dip the 50% discount on food with this exclusive statement credit offer. For those of you interested in getting a massage or a spa treatment, the Remède Spa (at The St. Regis Singapore) as well as the AWAY Spa (at W Singapore - Sentosa Cove) as participating outlets for this promotion. Apart from in-person payments, online payments at Marriott.com, as well as those via the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app, are valid transactions for the purpose of satisfying the minimum spend requirement.

Hyatt - Spend S$300, Get S$75 Statement Credit

Statement Credit: S$75 (25% Cashback) 
Maximum Redemption: Once per Saved Card 
Eligible Spend Categories: Staycations (In-person and Online), Spa and Dining across participating outlets

Even though the Andaz Singapore is not yet approved for staycations in Singapore, eligible spend across both Hyatt properties in Singapore (including the Grand Hyatt Singapore) will be included in the calculation of minimum spend for this offer. Apart from hotel stays (direct payment can be made in-person, via phone to the Hyatt Reservation Centre, online via Hyatt.com, or via the World of Hyatt app), spend across participating dining outlets and spa will also be considered for the purpose of meeting the minimum spend requirement. Statement credit will only be awarded once per saved card and if you are interested in getting a spa treatment, the Damai Spa at Grand Hyatt Singapore is a participating outlet.

Millennium Hotels and Resorts - Spend S$500, Get S$100 Statement Credit

Eligible Spend Categories: Staycations (In-person and Online) and Dining across participating outlets

There are only two participating Millennium Hotels and Resorts in Singapore for the purpose of this promotion - M Social Singapore and Orchard Hotel Singapore (both properties have been approved for staycations in Singapore). Similar to most of the other offers, the statement credit of S$100 will only be awarded once per saved card. Out of all the four hotel offers, this is probably the least attractive one (offering 20% cashback) of the lot but if you do enjoy a staycation at M Social Singapore, you might just want to extend your stay to meet the minimum spend requirement.

Offset Eligible Hotel Transactions with Membership Rewards Points (35% More Value!)

From 25 August 2020 to 08 November 2020, enjoy a 35% enhanced rate when you cover your staycations with Membership Rewards (MR) points. Typically, 1,000 MR Points can be used to offset S$4.80 but card members will be able to enjoy an enhanced rate of S$6.50 on all eligible hotel transactions during the promotional period. If you hold The American Express Platinum Card, do keep in mind that you can use your MR Points to offset your annual fees this year at an enhanced rate of 1,000 MR Points = S$11.

There are definitely some opportunities to stack some of the aforementioned American Express offers with your credit card perks (e.g. Love Dining discount and additional FHR offers on The Platinum Card). If you do not have a Centurion or Platinum card, you may also consider stacking some of these offers with Virtuoso Rates that you can book exclusively online. I am personally very excited about the Hilton offer since you can essentially stack the 3rd-night free offer at Conrad Centennial Singapore with this amazing deal.
