Hotel Review: Swissôtel The Stamford Singapore (Signature Suite with L65 Lounge Access) - Great Location with Fantastic Views of Singapore
Swissôtel The Stamford underwent a refurbishment in 2019, and although I’ve stayed there a few times in the past (post-refurbishment), I had never visited the L65 Lounge until recently. This was due to not being an elite member of the Accor Live Limitless (ALL) loyalty program for quite a while (does anyone else remember Le Club AccorHotels?). Upon arriving at the lobby, I noticed long lines at the self-check-in area, which required physical identification, such as a passport, to proceed. I decided to approach one of the staff members to inquire if I could check in at the lounge as an ALL Platinum member. She quickly took my details and escorted me up to the L65 Lounge for a much smoother check-in experience.

While the check-in process at the L65 Lounge wasn’t particularly extraordinary, I was grateful to skip the lines and enjoy a more private and relaxed experience. I wasn’t offered an upgrade as an ALL Platinum member, so I was checked into the Signature Suite I had originally booked. The Marina Bay Suite and the Crest Suite were available during my stay, but I didn’t feel the need to ask for an upgrade as I was happy with the suite I had. I made the most of the opportunity to enjoy a coffee while soaking in the stunning views from the L65 Lounge before heading to my suite.
The Signature Suites at Swissôtel The Stamford offers 50 sqm of space and it comes with two private balconies that offer panoramic city views - I also enjoyed partial views of the Marina Bay from one of the balconies which was a nice surprise.
All Signature Suites at the Swissôtel The Stamford feature a single bathroom, conveniently located near the suite's entrance. While the bathroom is relatively simple and includes a shower-tub combination (not my personal favorite), the glass partition effectively prevents water from splashing out, keeping the floors dry during a shower. The bathtub also offers excellent water pressure, making it perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day out.
The bath amenities provided are Purovel-branded, a Swiss-made product that sources its ingredients from an Alpine garden. While I’m not familiar with the specifics of its production, the fragrance is delightful and refreshing. I also appreciated that the bulk-sized bottles were not wall-mounted, allowing for easy use at the sink area if needed.
The bathroom features a single vanity sink paired with a large mirror, which is especially convenient when getting ready to head out. A filtered water tap is also available here, which I found particularly useful since I drink plenty of water throughout the day. However, unlike the Fairmont Singapore, this tap only provides room-temperature water, with no option for hot or chilled water. While it’s easy enough to boil water using the electric kettle in the room, I do prefer having chilled water on hand, which can be a bit inconvenient in this setup. Fortunately, the hotel does provide reusable glass bottles for guests to refill and chill in the fridge if needed.
The Signature Suite at the Swissôtel The Stamford that I stayed in featured a connecting door, and while I’m generally not a fan of connecting rooms, the suite’s spacious layout made it less of a concern since the door was located far from the bedroom. As a light sleeper, noise from neighboring rooms can be quite disruptive—especially if you’re unlucky enough to have noisy neighbors. On a brighter note, I really appreciated the work desk in the suite. It benefits from ample natural daylight and offers a fantastic view, which makes it an enjoyable and inspiring spot to get work done.
As previously mentioned, the Signature Suite boasts two expansive private balconies, offering sweeping views of the island. One of these balconies is accessible from the living room, specifically near the work desk area. While I am unsure if all suites offer similar views, the one I was assigned featured a stunning outlook of Marina Bay Sands and its surrounding areas. I can imagine these suites being highly sought after—and priced accordingly—during the Singapore Grand Prix season, as they provide an excellent vantage point to watch the race tracks directly from your room.
I really appreciate the design of the rooms and suites at Swissôtel The Stamford, which strike a perfect balance between modern elegance and a cozy, residential feel without being overly extravagant. The thoughtful layout maximizes the use of space, adding to the overall functionality of the suite. While the wardrobe area in the Signature Suite is relatively small for a suite of this size, it was more than sufficient for my one-night stay. However, families traveling with children might want to consider booking a higher-category suite for the added space and comfort it provides.
The Signature Suite features a separate living area; however, it cannot be fully partitioned from the bedroom, giving it more of a studio-like feel rather than a true one-bedroom suite. While the space isn’t particularly large, it is certainly adequate for two adults. The living area is equipped with a 65" LED television offering a wide selection of cable channels, making it easy to relax and enjoy your time indoors without much effort. Do note that there is only one television in the Signature Suite and it is easier to watch it from the living room than the bedroom.
As a welcome amenity, I received a lovely plate of fresh fruits, though I’m not entirely sure if this was due to my ALL Platinum status or simply because I was staying in a suite. From what I’ve heard, some elite members, including ALL Platinum members, are occasionally welcomed with a bottle of wine instead—so your experience may vary.
The Signature Suite at Swissôtel The Stamford is equipped with modern amenities expected of a luxury hotel, including a Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary coffee capsules. You’ll also find the minibar, an electric kettle, and an assortment of cups and glasses neatly stored in a sliding compartment below.
For tea enthusiasts, TWG teabags are provided, though if you have access to the L65 Lounge, you might prefer to enjoy your coffee or tea there. The lounge offers not only fantastic beverages but also arguably one of the best views of the Marina Bay area in Singapore, making it a more compelling option than staying in your room. Reusable glass water bottles are also provided in the suite, ideal if you prefer chilled water or need a bottle to take along while exploring the city. Just make sure to return them to the room before checkout to avoid any charges.
The Swissôtel The Stamford features a comfortable king-size bed with a mattress that leans toward the firmer side, providing me with a great night’s sleep. Despite the suite’s two balconies and an abundance of natural daylight during the day, the blackout curtains work exceptionally well to block out the light, making it easy to sleep in if you wish.
The second balcony of the Signature Suite offers a view of Bugis and the surrounding area. While this cityscape may not rival the iconic Marina Bay view, it’s still enjoyable to try and spot notable landmarks from this vantage point. If you're fortunate enough to be assigned a room or suite on one of the higher floors, the panoramic views from Swissôtel The Stamford can be truly captivating.
The control panels for the lights in the rooms and suites are quite advanced, with backlighting that activates as you approach them. The proximity sensors make it easy to adjust the lighting, even in the dark, and the motion-sensitive nightlights are a thoughtful touch. In addition to the intuitive controls, I found the Wi-Fi to be reliable and seamless throughout my stay.
Complimentary access to the L65 Lounge at Swissôtel The Stamford is available only to in-house guests staying in an Executive room or a suite with Executive Lounge access. Additionally, ALL Diamond and Platinum members can enjoy access to the lounge on all eligible stays, regardless of the room type booked. If you do not hold elite status in the ALL loyalty program, booking a Signature Suite will not grant you access to the L65 Lounge. It's also worth noting that booking the Crest Suite or higher provides access to a private section within the L65 Lounge. While the food and drink offerings are likely the same, this area offers a more exclusive and private setting.
Perched on Level 65 of the Swissôtel The Stamford, the L65 Lounge offers stunning panoramic views of Singapore's skyline. Evening cocktails and canapés are served daily from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with the most sought-after tables providing a breathtaking view of Marina Bay Sands and the Marina Bay area. During my stay, the lounge never felt overcrowded, but I can’t speak to how quickly it fills up on high-demand days, such as National Day or New Year’s Eve. I appreciated the diverse seating arrangements, which accommodate varying group sizes—a thoughtful touch, especially for those traveling with family or friends.
As with most Executive Lounges, guests with access to the L65 Lounge can enjoy complimentary alcoholic beverages during the evening hours. However, I found the selection of drinks to be somewhat lacking. There is no sparkling wine (not even Prosecco), and the house wines served are similar to those offered to American Express Platinum cardholders via the annual renewal vouchers—essentially a basic offering.
With that said, I do appreciate that draught beers are served as opposed to bottled beers but the alcohol selection is average at best - you might need to book a Fairmont Gold room at the Fairmont Singapore if you are after a glass of Champagne.
While the alcohol selection at the L65 Lounge may be underwhelming, the variety of hot food available in the evening more than makes up for it. With a wide range of hot dishes, including a live noodle station, in-house guests can easily enjoy the evening spread as a full dinner. I particularly appreciate that local dishes are featured, offering international travelers a chance to experience Singapore’s culinary offerings without needing to venture out, which can be daunting for first-time visitors.
The quality of the food is impressive, extending beyond the typical carb-heavy options. During my visit, there was a good selection of high-quality proteins, and I always enjoy a well-balanced spread that includes more than just fried items (though, I won’t deny that fried food is perfect for pairing with drinks).
The lounge staff were attentive with refills, and they even offered one last round of drinks before the evening cocktails ended at 7:30 PM. It’s worth noting that drinks are still available for purchase after 7:30 PM, and the L65 Lounge stays open later, so you can always linger a little longer if you wish.
Regardless of whether your room or suite comes with a view of the Marina Bay, the views are best enjoyed from the L65 Lounge. It is also not uncommon to see hotel guests trying to get a photo of the view from one of the balconies in the lounge (especially during sunset).
As an ALL Platinum member, I enjoyed breakfast at CLOVE at Swissôtel The Stamford as part of my elite benefits. Located on Level 2 of the hotel, CLOVE serves breakfast from 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM on weekdays, and from 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM on weekends. Alternatively, guests with Executive Lounge access can opt for a quieter breakfast at the L65 Lounge, available daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. I didn’t take many photos of the breakfast this time, as I ended up sitting next to a friendly Canadian pilot, and we spent most of the meal chatting.
I didn’t have time to visit the fitness centre or the swimming pool during my stay, but I did notice a smaller gym on Level 65, right next to the L65 Lounge. This is not the main hotel gym, which is located on Level 6 of the Fairmont Singapore (as both properties share one gym). The more private gym on Level 65 offers just a few pieces of equipment and a shower room, making it ideal for a quick workout before checking out or heading to the airport. If you’re in Singapore and want to explore different fitness studios, I highly recommend signing up for a free ClassPass trial, which lets you book classes at various studios, whether you're looking for a HIIT workout, yoga session, or spin class.
Swissôtel The Stamford offers arguably the best view of Marina Bay in Singapore, and its prime location in City Hall makes it an ideal choice for international tourists looking for a comfortable stay in a fantastic area. While Accor properties in Singapore aren’t typically my go-to for staycations, this hotel is a great option if you want to take in those iconic views we often overlook. The L65 Lounge provides a substantial evening food selection, though the alcohol offerings are a bit underwhelming, so it depends on the purpose of your stay. Personally, I’m already planning another visit, as I’m eager to explore the higher-tier suites at this property.
