Hotel Review: Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru (Executive Room)
The Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru is located just minutes away after clearing the Woodlands Checkpoint. In fact, due to its proximity, it is very possible for you visit even if you are not driving - simply take a bus into Johor Bahru and then flag a taxi from there (less than RM5 on meter) or if you are feeling a little adventurous, take a walk! I have previously stayed in a One-Bedroom Suite at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru when I visited last year - click HERE to check out my review of the One Bedroom Suite!
I stayed in a King Executive Room with Lounge Access during my latest visit to the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru. Since I was traveling with some friends, I have made prior arrangements with the hotel to get a connecting room - do note that having your requests known by the hotel in advance will save you any unnecessary waiting upon checking in. Located on higher floors, the Executive Rooms come with better views, Executive Lounge access, complimentary breakfast & refreshments as well as WiFi.
I particularly like the bathroom of the Executive Room - while it wasn't as big as the one I had in the One-Bedroom Suite previously (and obviously), it was sufficient and definitely quite beautifully appointed. It is worth noting that the Executive Rooms do not come with a bathtub and therefore if it is important to you, you should definitely consider upgrading to an entry-level suite.
The bathroom looks into the bedroom and it comes with a rainshower which is perfect after spending a whole day out hopping from cafes to cafes (simply because there aren't enough in Singapore!) or restaurants to restaurants. If you're sharing the bedroom, just flip the switch and a privacy blind will come down. Gentle reminder that if your bathroom is brighter than your bedroom, you may very well be presenting a shadow show of your family/friends in the bedroom.
Similar to the One-Bedroom Suite, bath amenities are provided by Crabtree & Evelyn. Unlike some hotels where club rooms and suites enjoy a different (and more expensive) bath amenity brand, you will be pampered even from the lowest category room.
One of the benefits of being in an Executive Room as I have mentioned earlier is the view from the room. Since the area surrounding the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru is comparatively low-rise, you will be able to get a pretty good view of everything from where you are with virtually no obstruction. Sound-proofing in the room is also great at this hotel so you will not be getting any street noise even at the lower levels.
The best benefit of staying in an Executive Room is the Executive Lounge access of course! Enjoy light snacks and drinks (including coffee, tea and juices) throughout the day and for the evening, indulge in free-flow wines and alcoholic beverages while having your plates full of delicious snacks. The Executive Lounge can get pretty busy during the cocktail hour and do note that the dress code requires covered-shoes and long pants (although the latter isn't really enforced).
The Executive Lounge is a beautiful place to hang out with your friends over a coffee throughout the day. If you are thinking of an inclusive staycation (and do not wish to leave the hotel at all), be sure to get a room with lounge access!
If you are here on business or would simply like a meeting space, the meeting room located in the Executive Lounge is complimentary for guests with Executive Lounge access (on a first come first served basis). With enough space for 10 people, the meeting room is a great little space for you to go over important details or simply have a productive discussion.
If your room or suite comes with Lounge access, breakfast is complimentary as part of your lounge benefits. You may choose to have the full buffet breakfast at Makan Kitchen downstairs or have a smaller but quieter breakfast in the Executive Lounge.
If you are a Singaporean coming to the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru for a staycation then I will definitely recommend staying in an Executive Room instead of a regular room for its inclusions.

Swissôtel The Stamford offers stunning views of Marina Bay and a prime City Hall location, making it an excellent choice for international visitors. While the L65 Lounge serves substantial evening food, the limited alcohol selection might not suit all guests, but the hotel is still a great option for those wanting to experience Singapore’s iconic sights.
