Cessation of Uber and SPG Partnership - No more Starpoints on Uber Rides after 17 December 2017

Uber has been my preferred method of transport and being able to earn 1 Starpoint per USD (albeit little) has been a nice bonus throughout the last couple of years. I have received an email today notifying me that the Uber and SPG partnership will end after 17 December 2017 and members will no longer be able to earn Starpoints from rides.

With Grab offering the option to convert Grab Rewards Points into KrisFlyer Miles and the opportunity to earn up to 3.3 miles per dollar on all Uber and Grab rides with one of the American Express Singapore Airlines credit cards, is it worthwhile to brave the relatively lacklustre ride experience for great benefits and earn rates?
