Mandarin Oriental finally unveils an Official Loyalty Program (Kinda!) - Fans of M.O.
The Mandarin Oriental does not have an official loyalty program for the longest time and frequent travellers believe that your stay history is somehow tracked by individual PMS systems that are located in each property but forgive me if I am not convinced. Now, the Mandarin Oriental has finally unveiled an official loyalty program which really should be deemed as a membership program for two main reasons - there are no membership tiers and you do not get rewarded (at least not officially) when you stay more.

Mandarin Oriental has a decent best price promise which gives you 10% off the competing rate (I believe this used to be 25% a number of years ago but I may be wrong) - I have had a number of successes at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore but those happened years ago. What is interesting with the Fans of M.O. program is this - all members (currently free to sign-up) will receive the following four privileges regardless of whether you have booked your stay directly with the brand (yes, this includes stays that you book via Expedia for instance):
- Complimentary WiFi
- Welcome Amenity
- Personalised Stay
- Members Only Offers
What is perhaps more interesting in my opinion is the number of privileges that you can select from in the even that you do book directly with the brand online - all eligible members may select two out of eight additional privileges:
- Early Check-in from 12:00PM
- Late Check-out until 4:00PM
- Daily Breakfast
- Dining or Spa Credit
- Room Upgrade
- Streaming WiFi
- Celebratory Treat
- Pressing Services
If you were to ask me which two benefits I would pick, I would go for the Late Check-out at 4:00PM (provided it is guaranteed and none of that subject to availability nonsense) as well as a Room Upgrade for a weekend staycation. If I am traveling and I intend to spend a number of nights at the property, I would definitely go for the Daily Breakfast (assuming I did not book a club room or suite) as well as the Room Upgrade (provided it can be guaranteed before arrival).
