3.0 Miles per Dollar on Foreign Currency Transactions made on OCBC VOYAGE Card - Targeted
Last week, I wrote about how some OCBC VOYAGE Card members are targeted with the opportunity to earn 3.4 VOYAGE Miles (VMs) per dollar on foreign currency transactions made on their card from 24 May 2019 to 30 June 2019. Last night, I received an EDM from OCBC to inform me that I have been targeted for 3.0 VMs per dollar on foreign currency transactions - while this is lower than the previous targeted offer that I did not get, it does have a higher maximum cap.
Even though the 3.0 VMs per dollar offer is lower than the 3.4 VMs offer, it does come with a higher maximum cap for bonus miles - individuals that have been targeted with 3.0 VMs will be able to benefit from this accelerated rate for eligible spends up to S$10,000 (versus just S$5,000 if you are in the former group). Therefore, if you are planning on spending S$10,000 in foreign currency transactions, you will still come out ahead of the former group (30,000 VMs versus 29,000 VMs).
While there is no telling as to how OCBC chooses to targeted their VOYAGE customers, I believe it has a lot to do with your pattern of spend. I have been charging foreign currency transactions to my OCBC VOYAGE Card quite conscientiously as I have started to find it a chore to reconcile points and miles at the end of every statement period. Now that OCBC VOYAGE Cardholders get to enjoy a complimentary limousine ride for every S$1,500 (in foreign currency transactions) spent (up to 2 per month), I am feeling a lot more inclined to put all my non-SGD expenses to this card in June.
TRIBE Living Bangkok Sukhumvit 39 is a great value choice for budget-conscious travelers but its slightly longer walk from Phrom Phong BTS Station may make it less convenient compared to more accessible (but pricier) options in the area.
