Citi PremierMiles Card Increases Local Earn Rate to 1.5 Miles per Dollar with S$3,000 Minimum Spend Each Month

The Citi PremierMiles Card is a great credit card to hold - it gives you a base earn rate of 1.2 miles per dollar on local spend and 2.0 miles per dollar on all eligible non-SGD transactions. Yesterday, Citibank announced a change in the value proposition of this card - all eligible SGD transactions until 31 December 2019 will earn 25% more miles (1.5 miles per dollar) if minimum spend of S$3,000 in total retail purchase (this also includes Citi PayAll) is reached each statement month.

If you qualify as a new customer for the Citi PremierMiles Card, you will be able to receive S$250 in cash which will be transferred to you via PayNow. Additionally, if you apply and get approved for the card before 29 September 2019, you will stand a chance to win an additional S$1,000 in cash! Alternatively, if you prefer to build up your mileage bank quicker, you may choose to forfeit the annual fee waiver and opt for the welcome offer of 21,000 Citi Miles with the payment of S$192.60 annual fee (you will have to spend S$7,500 within the first 3 months in order to qualify though). Assuming you do spend S$7,500 in the first month, you are looking at receiving up to 36,000 Citi Miles (effectively 4.8 miles per dollar) if you go with the second annual fee option.

In summary, as a new customer of the Citi PremierMiles Card, you will be able to pick between two options: 

• Option 1 (Annual Fee Waiver) - Get S$250 Cash + Chance to Win S$1,000 

• Option 2 (Pay S$192.60 Annual Fee) - Earn up to 36,000 Miles + Chance to Win S$1,000

Now you may already know this but the Citi PremierMiles Card also gives you the opportunity to earn 10 Citi Miles per SGD spent on hotel bookings made via Kaligo. In addition to that, you will also be able to take 10% off on eligible hotel reservations made on Expedia as well as bonus miles when you book on Agoda. The ability to earn 1.5 Citi Miles per SGD on all eligible retail transactions is definitely something worth taking note of but with so many opportunities to earn up to 4 miles per dollar in Singapore, this promotion may only appeal to those who refuse to hold multiple credit cards.
