Hotel Review: M Social Singapore (Loft Premier Room) - My Millennium Prestige Members Earn More Points on Stays with Upgrades and Welcome Amenities
Robertson Quay is probably one of the most laidback neighbourhoods in Singapore to live in with plenty of great restaurants, cafes, and drinking places along an idyllic stretch of the city. Despite having so much to offer, it is still conveniently located on the city fringe, being just minutes away from the Central Business District (CBD) and town. Opened back in 2016, M Social Singapore is one of the iconic properties in the area with interiors designed by world-renowned Philippe Starck.

There are five different room types here at M Social Singapore but the main differences can be found in the Alcove- and Loft-style rooms. It is worth noting that My Millennium launched a brand new prestige tier in the global loyalty programme back in April 2022 and members can now earn additional points and enjoy exclusive perks like complimentary (one-category) room upgrades and priority check-in and check-out. For this stay at M Social Singapore, I was given the Loft Premier Room which is the second-highest tier room on the property.
Upon entering the room, you will notice how much vertical space the loft-style rooms enjoy. The lead-in room category Alcove Cosy, features 19 sqm of space and the difference is quite big - if you are planning to stay in, booking a loft-style room will definitely be the smarter decision and besides, how many of us actually live in an actual loft on a daily basis? Measuring 22sqm in size, the Loft Premier Rooms here at M Social Singapore has a Queen size mattress located on the mezzanine level of the room.
The lower level is where you will find the bathroom, a living area, as well as a small work desk if you are here for business. Due to space constraints, the shower area and toilet are located away from the main basin area which is also pretty smart since you do not have to wait for the person showering to be done before being able to use the basin. Located next to the wash basin is where you will find a small minibar that has been cleared out for you to put your own items.
All of the bathrooms are fairly similar across all five different room types - there is a small separate shower area (complete with a rain shower head) and the toilet is located next to it. The blinds can be opened or closed (from the inside of the bathroom) depending on whether you are sharing the room with someone else but it is a nice option to have some natural light in if you are staying in one of these rooms alone.
Bath amenities are provided by C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries and they are lightly-scented that are suitable for both male and female guests.
All three of the loft-style rooms at the M Social Singapore feature a Nespresso machine in the room with complimentary capsules - these capsules are also replenished each day by housekeeping if you are staying multiple nights. While there is no lack of cafes in the Robertson Quay area (and most of them are within a 5-10 minute walk), being able to get a quick caffeine fix in the comfort of your own room makes a big difference.
As a My Millennium Prestige member, I was also given a bottle of wine as part of my welcome amenities - this house label is available exclusively across all Millennium Hotels and Resorts properties in Singapore. I also received a box of macarons as well as a welcome card to the property which is a nice touch - the macarons came in extra handy since I had a work call during lunchtime and did not have time to get food.
It goes without saying that the 'bedroom' is the best part of the whole room as it is located on the mezzanine level of the room which creates a cozy space for you to retreat to at the end of the day (or even during the day - no judgment here!). Obviously, this room is not suitable for those who experience difficulties going up and down a flight of stairs but if this is not a matter of concern for you, you will probably enjoy the novel experience in one of these loft-style rooms.
Do take note that not all of the lights can be switched on and off from the mezzanine level so you should probably take note of which lights you want to keep on (or off) before heading up unless you are up for a workout.
Even though it was extremely gloomy and rainy during my stay at the M Social Singapore, it does have a pretty nice swimming pool which is located on Level 5 of the hotel - this is also where you will find a small gym with a couple of treadmills. This is the perfect spot to laze the afternoon away with a good book (assuming you are here on vacation) or if you wish to work on your tan. If you are a My Millennium Prestige member, you will also get to enjoy perks like priority check-in and check-out so you will have more time to enjoy the facilities on the property.
You will also find a washer and dryer located on Level 5 of the property - the machines accept tokens only and these tokens can be purchased from the front office or reception downstairs. While washers and dryers are no longer common in hotels in this part of the world, they are extremely useful when you are here on vacation and do not wish to send everything for dry-cleaning since it will cost a lot.
If your booking is a breakfast-inclusive rate, it will be served at Beast & Butterflies which is also a great spot for drinks in the evening. Since self-service buffet has resumed in Singapore, you are free to help yourself to the buffet spread. While the selection may not be extensive, you should be able to find most of what you want from the self-service area.
Looking for something Instagram-worthy? Beast & Butterflies is home to a famous robotic arm that makes your omelets and sunny-side-ups the way you like them. That's right - simply place a plate on the designated spot, pick your omelet toppings and let the magic happen.
My Millennium Prestige members earn 15 points per USD spent on rooms (50% more than a regular member) and kids will also eat free at an eligible rate. Points can be used to offset the cost of a room when booking direct, or they can be used to redeem for items in the My Millennium Mall. Personally, I convert my points into OCBC Reward Points which I then use for KrisFlyer Miles via the STACK digital loyalty platform.
