In case you do not already know, the Marriott STARS rate, short for "Special Travel Agent Rates," is an exclusive program that caters to travel advisors and their clients, offering attractive benefits and privileges at select Marriott properties worldwide. This rate cannot be booked directly via Marriott.com by most people as it will typically require you go to through a special travel agent or a luxury travel agent - platforms like HoteLux (which requires a paid membership) and ClassicTravel.com (free to use) provide access to these special rates which can be especially attractive, especially on shorter duration stays.
I have previously written about these luxury travel advisor rates and how you can book them so I highly recommend that you give that a read if you are completely new to this but in the event that you are already familiar with these rates, The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok is currently offering a Stay 3, Pay 2 offer which starts from just USD 441 for a three-night stay - this works out to just USD 147 per night and it also comes with the following benefits:
Breakfast for 2 guests daily
USD 100 F&B credit per stay
Early check-in
Late check-out
Upgrade
Welcome amenity
Do note that the prices you see on ClassicTravel.com do not reflect the free night yet - this will be adjusted automatically a few days after your booking, or you may also reach out to the property directly for adjustment. As you may imagine, room rates fluctuate based on demand, but the cheapest three-night stay that I have found in 2023 is THB 15,142 (inclusive of tax) which works out to just USD 441 or SGD 591 - a fantastic price!
This rate is also an eligible rate which means you will earn nights and points from it - you will also get to enjoy all your usual benefits if you are a Marriott Bonvoy elite member (i.e. lounge access for Platinum Elite and higher members). There is a common misconception that these luxury travel advisor rates are typically more expensive - they are almost definitely pegged to the best available rate of the property so it is never 'more expensive'. Of course, there will always be cheaper rates (e.g. Advance Purchase) available which come with their own set of restrictions (e.g. full prepayment and non-cancellable) but at the time of writing, the Marriott STARS rate for The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok is the cheapest one there is.
Two months ago, I wrote about a targeted offer that was open to all members for registration (due to a Marriott Bonvoy IT glitch) - the offer is honoured for all registered members and it is truly a fantastic one since you only need two stays for a Free Night Award (valued at 35,000 points). There is currently no global promotion but I would expect one to be announced in the second half of August. ClassicTravel.com is a great way for you to access additional benefits on your stay without any additional cost - this applies to all members, regardless of their status level.
Planning a beach day can seem simple, but unexpected issues often arise. Mornington Peninsula’s beaches are popular, which means dealing with potential crowds, fluctuating weather, and poor preparation can easily ruin your outing. Arriving late might lead to parking challenges, and picking the wrong beach can limit your planned activities. Many forget important items that could make or break their beach experience, leading to stress and missed opportunities for relaxation.
