World of Hyatt Offering 20% Discount on Point Purchases - 1.92 US Cents per Point (by 8 October 2024)
World of Hyatt is currently running a 20% discount on all point purchases made before 11:59 PM Eastern Time on 8 October 2024 - this works out to 1.92 US cents per point which is fairly decent as you can easily get fantastic value out of these points if you use them wisely. World of Hyatt points are extremely valuable with free nights starting from just 3,500 points (USD 67.20) - you can even further reduce this cost when there are global or targeted promotions running.
In order to trigger the 20% discount on World of Hyatt point purchases, you will have to purchase at least 5,000 points in a single transaction. The 20% discount lowers the cost per point down from 2.4 US cents to 1.92 US cents and as mentioned previously, these points are best utilised at properties with a high cash rate. For example, the average room rate at the luxurious Park Hyatt Kyoto goes beyond JPY 200,000 or USD 1,500 per night (even during off-peak periods) whereas a free night here requires 35,000 (off-peak), 40,000 (standard), or 45,000 (peak) points per night. In comparison to the cash rate, the cost of redemption is significantly lower especially when you purchase these points with a 20% discount:
Category 8 Off-Peak: 35,000 Points (USD 672)
Category 8 Standard: 40,000 Points (USD 768)
Category 8 Peak: 45,000 Points (USD 864)
You can get plenty of value out of your World of Hyatt points at lower Category properties like the Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka as well. Since this is a Category 1 property, you will only need 3,500 points (which costs USD 67.20 to purchase) for a free night on off-peak days - you can see that the cheapest cash rate starts from JPY 34,200 and if you want a cancellable rate, the cheapest members-only rate you can get is USD 300 per night.
By simply purchasing World of Hyatt points at a 20% discount, you can effectively pay USD 67.20 for a USD 300 room night - that's 77.6% savings!
Members can only purchase up to 55,000 World of Hyatt points each calendar year and since I have already purchased some during a previous sale (and also redeemed some of my Max Miles for points), I am only allowed to purchase 16,000 more points for the rest of the year. I would personally use the Amaze Card (with Citi Rewards Card linked to it) to earn 4 miles per dollar on eligible purchases and also to avoid additional FX fees.
Probably the best sign-up offer for Citi Credit Cards - get S$400 cash reward with minimum spend of S$500 within 30 days for new customers.
