First Look at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront's New Integrated Dining Concept
The Grand Copthorne Waterfront will be unveiling the brand new integrated dining concept to public on 02 June 2016 (that's next week). As part of the media preview, we were invited down to this property for a sneak peek of the lobby and restaurants last Friday. I have not been back to the property since I've last stayed there towards the end of 2014 so I was pleasantly surprised to see how much has changed ever since.
The lobby of the Grand Copthorne Waterfront has been given a major overhaul. In fact, the flight of stairs (if you remember) has been completely removed and I love how modern the space now looks.
The new check-in area is a lot more modern and there is potentially more space for people during peak hours. The last time I stayed at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront, I remembered the check-in area to be a little chaotic as the queue extended to main area of traffic flow. It's nice to see that this space have been given a lot more thought now and I can't wait to see how it's like when it is finally unveiled to the public.
What exactly is the new integrated dining concept then? Basically what the Grand Copthorne Waterfront has done is to integrate three restaurants and bars into one major dining venue to encourage the seamless flow between these venues. The first place you will (well, at least I did) notice is the new slick looking bar, Tempo. You will also definitely notice the music as there is now a DJ every evening to serve up songs and chilled beats to wind down your evenings.
Cocktails here are locally-inspired and before you think SG50, I thought that the drinks actually make sense - I just wish they were stronger in spirit though. During the media preview, I tried the Cheng Tng cocktail which contains a longan-infused Gin (which tastes great on its own!). Pretty interesting but I wish I had the opportunity to try more drinks!
The brand new Italian restaurant by Grand Copthorne Waterfront, Grissini, has been given a beautiful space. In fact, there is a pretty impressive private dining area which is located at the back of the restaurant. Since the restaurant is further away from the music, you will also get a more romantic dining atmosphere.
There is also a counter where diners are also to peek into the show kitchen and watch their food gets prepared 'live' in front of them.
Finally, the third component of the integrated dining concept is Food Capital - this is the hotel's new all-day dining restaurant and it will feature a number of 'live' stations where food is prepared a la minute in front of your very eyes.
Some of the dishes to watch out for are the local dishes - the Laksa is amazing and the Indian selection is pretty decent too.
Swissôtel The Stamford offers stunning views of Marina Bay and a prime City Hall location, making it an excellent choice for international visitors. While the L65 Lounge serves substantial evening food, the limited alcohol selection might not suit all guests, but the hotel is still a great option for those wanting to experience Singapore’s iconic sights.
